Global Market
Adaptive learning is a vital part of the educational process. It aims at improving student engagement, learning and participation by using analytical information and technology. Adaptive learning with the support of hardware providers, software innovators, and the ministry of education is able to lead the education sector globally.
The United States of America currently dominates the global market for educational technology advancement and implementation. The Asia Pacific region, as well as European countries, are expanding significantly to meet growing demands. This, in turn, results in more support from their government to fund investments for the development and implementation of new adaptive learning programs. Various initiatives are beginning to take place in the Middle East and African region for the introduction to adaptive learning platforms.
Below are four popular platforms, from four different countries, used to teach mathematics with the promotion of adaptive learning technology to individualize student learning path.

Why these companies?
Our team had several discussions over which companies to include into our Open Educational Resource and there were so many to choose from. We needed to narrow it down to only four successful and influential companies to learn from and to compare with one another. We understand the importance of being inclusive while thinking globally about cultural influences and diversity, so we decided to choose one influential company from Canada, United States of America, United Kingdom, and India.
Upon narrowing down the companies we wanted to focus on, we thought about the need to have an option for users to choose whether they would like the company to be a non-profit or for-profit organization. So, we chose Open Shiksha, from India, which is a new and thriving non-profit organization that offers everything the users were looking for. As for DreamBox Learning, it is one of the first learning platforms that offer adaptive learning technology and is also one of the best-funded startups in the educational world. From Canada, we selected Prodigy since it is unique in the way that it offers role-playing game style activities, and is one of Canada's fastest growing software companies. Mangahigh, from the UK, offers flash-based activities and is very popular among high school students between the ages of 15-18. These are the reasons why we narrowed it down to four companies across the globe to learn from and to introduce to everyone.
